Staf safe in the snow this winter!
Staf safe in the snow this winter!
At our emergency veterinary hospital, we have trained our staff to handle emergency situations with care and speed. If your pet is experiencing a medical emergency, and it is during our posted business hours, you can walk into our hospital and seek medical attention for your pet.
We will triage you in an exam room and collect you and your pet's basic information to begin treating them as soon as possible.
We have seen great success with our own patients being sent to the emergency room in the past but have heard the wait times can be anywhere from 6 to 12 to even 24 or more hours. Every emergency clinic is doing their best to service their patients, but the volume of cases is unprecedented.
On average we can address your pet's needs in 1 to 4 hours, a fraction of the wait at larger hospitals. If needed, we are easily able to hospitalize your pet so they can be monitored and treated by our staff without you having to wait in an exam room for extended periods.
Happy Tails's emergency veterinary hospital has what your pet needs to heal. Our on-site pharmacy provides a variety of pain medications, antibiotics, emergency drugs, and more so your pet can be sent home with what they need to recover.
We have the capability to capture full-body radiographs of any species and process blood chemistries and urine tests in house so you can get results while you are waiting.
If needed, we can perform complicated surgeries within 24 hours, so you don't have to be sent to a specialist.
If your pet does need more advanced care than we can provide, we are able to stabilize and manage pain for them until you can reach your next destination.

Whether you call ahead or arrive at the door, our CSR team will begin your triage. We have patient-client information forms for you to complete either ahead of time or upon your arrival. Once those forms are completed and you are added to our database, a team member will collect the doctor's exam fee, which is $206.00.
Please note that if your pet is lateral or actively coding, we will take them immediately to the doctor on staff to begin life saving measures.
After the fee is collected and all of your and your pet's information is up to date in our database we will either have you and your pet wait in your car or you will be placed in an exam room. A veterinary technician will come to you when available to take your pet's history, which is a series of questions designed to know what is wrong with your pet before the doctor sees them.
If your pet was taken directly to the doctor becuase of their citical status, this step will still happen.
When available, the doctor placed in charge of your case will perform a nose-to-tail exam and will ask follow-up questions about your pet based on the information given to them by the technician. Based on that exam, the doctor and technician will deliberate and create a treatment plan for your pet's needs along with a detailed estimate. Upon signature, we will begin diagnostics and treatments.
Please note that if your pet was taken immediately to the doctor because of their critical status, we have a truncated form with general price ranges for certain procedures, treatments, and diagnostics that allows us to get costs approved as quickly as possible.
Once costs are approved by you, our team will begin performing diagnostics and treatments and closely monitoring your pet. We allow clients to stay in the building with their pet, or to leave the pet hospitalized in our care. Regardless, we will either speak to you in person or call you on the phone with any updates on your pet's condition.
Our team will complete their diagnostics and treatments, depending on the outcomes of the tests run, the treatment plan may change and any changes will be discussed with you as soon as possible. Further treatments will be performed if approved and medications will be prepared for you to take home.
Once all treatments are finished and medications packaged, the technician in charge of your appointment will give you written instructions, explain all at-home care, and go over final costs. Once you feel comfortable with everything discussed a CSR will come to you or call you to collect payment and schedule any follow ups if needed.
